Old Boy News |
Class of 2011 |
Ten Queensland doctors and best mates, including Old Boys Michael and Chris Erian (both 2011), recently broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to row one million metres indoors. Their campaign, A Million Metres For Melanoma. Their purpose, to raise awareness of the risks of melanoma and much needed funds to support the melanoma unit at the PA Hospital. Their goal, to raise at least $250,000 to help change the statistic that one Queenslander dies every single day from the disease.
In what has been best described as an amazing achievement for a great cause, the boys secured a new Guinness World Record in a time of 56 hours 58 minutes 22.8 seconds, eclipsing the previous record of 57 hours 36 minutes 51.4 seconds held by a Danish team which included ex-Olympic rowers. Congratulations to all involved.
