Old Boy News |
Class of 1971 |
Churchie Old Boy Wally Taylor (1971), a Goondiwindi local, is well known across regional Queensland for his work in the Australian cotton industry, particularly as a long-standing director of ASX-listed Namoi Cotton. In 2020 Wally sold Parkdale (the family property for over 100 years) but has remained heavily involved in his community ever since.
Recently, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section), were thrilled to announce the latest name to adorn one of the organisation’s new KingAir B360 planes, the Churchie 1971 WT. Having made a very generous gift to the RFDS (Queensland Section), Wally was honoured to have his name connected to such a vital service for those living and travelling through remote and regional Queensland. Naming rights are generally given to those who have made significant contributions to assist the RFDS in continuing to provide the Finest Care to the Furthest Corner.
“The RFDS does such amazing lifesaving work across the entire state, and I could think of no better organisation to support. Rather than just having my name printed on the plane, I chose to honour the great group of friends I made at Churchie and in particular, my graduating year of 1971. I’ve had long standing and enduring friendships from my time at Churchie and I wanted all my old school mates to know just how important they’ve been to me.”
What a wonderful gesture and legacy Wally! Congratulations!
