On site at the demolition of Toombul Shopping Centre (L-R): Jonathan Wearne (2021, Nansen), Baxter Schmidt (2023, Gerald), Stirling Schmidt (2019, Gerald), Riley Winten (2019, Gerald).

Since 2019, Rosenlund Demolition has employed and supported a Churchie Old Boy each year to complete their diesel fitting apprenticeship. This initiative began with Riley Winton (2019, Gerald House) when he sought advice from Mr. Mitch Rosenlund (Nansen Housemaster) on how to best complete his apprenticeship. A quick phone call to Mitch’s father, Neile Rosenlund (Director of Rosenlund Demolition), secured Riley's start. In July this year, Riley completed his 4-year Heavy Diesel apprenticeship.

Following Riley have been Luke Philp (2020, Goodwin), Jonathan Wearne (2021, Nansen), and Baxter Schmidt (2023, Gerald). Baxter’s older brother Stirling Schmidt (2019, Gerald) has recently begun employment at Rosenlund Demolition as a Construction Cadet while completing a Bachelor of Construction Management at QUT. Remarkably, all of them have been involved in the demolition of Toombul Shopping Centre. Neile Rosenlund expressed enthusiasm for this relationship, stating “That he is proud to have been involved development of young men to become skilled Australian adults, both in functionality and in their life skills. Whilst it is a sad day when they leave after finishing their apprenticeship, it gives me great satisfaction knowing that they are now a very productive citizen, keenly sought by Australian Industry.”
