Old Boy Ivan Hooper (1987) is a Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist who has spent the last 30 years involved with elite sport, both in a clinical setting as well as administrative and management roles with elite sports organisations. With 13 years of working at the Australian Institute of Sport and including selection as Team Physiotherapist on the Australian Olympic Team for all Olympic Games from Sydney 2000 through to Rio 2016 he has extensive experience and an intimate understanding of elite sport. Ivan learnt to row at Churchie and continued after school, representing Australia on four occasions. He then spent 16 years as Physiotherapist for the Australian Rowing Team working with Old Boys such as Jared Bidwell and Darcy Wruck. He has also worked at an elite level with kayaking, diving and archery. This year he has taken up a new position with the Queensland Academy of Sport and Swimming Australia based at Chandler looking after many of the elite swimmers, including fellow Churchie Old Boy Zac Stubblety-Cook (2017). This role took him to Budapest with the Australian Swimming Team for the recent 2022 World Championships.
